Martin Luther King Jr. Day at 黄色视频 Sacramento
鈥淓verybody can be great…because anybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.鈥 – Martin Luther King Jr.鈥
黄色视频 draws a lot of inspiration from Dr. King, and it is most evident on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.听Instead of taking the day off, each year, all 29 黄色视频 sites have a 鈥渄ay on鈥 for service, partnering with our communities and local champions for a day of physical service. This year in Sacramento, our鈥疉meriCorps鈥members participated鈥痠n a community march as well as service projects at two of our partner schools.鈥听
The 39th鈥痑苍苍耻补濒 鈥痟onors the civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr. The鈥four-mile鈥痬arch runs on the mission 鈥淗onoring the past, Impacting the future.鈥濃粕悠 Sacramento AmeriCorps听members assisted in鈥痬ultiple capacities this year:鈥痺e started and ended the day鈥痵trong,鈥痑ssisting鈥痺ith the set-up and closing of MLK 365 Walk at Sacramento City College.鈥疻e supported the Education Village by connecting with neighborhood families through arts and crafts.鈥疻e also spread the word about 黄色视频 to march participants, sharing our experiences so far in our year of service.鈥听
Improvement鈥痯rojects鈥痑nd physical service鈥痺ere flourishing at two of our school sites, Father Keith B. Kenny鈥疎lementary鈥痑nd Fern Bacon鈥疢iddle School.鈥疶he weather was on our side as we听painted murals to brighten up听these鈥痗ampuses and make鈥痶hem鈥痜eel even听尘辞谤别鈥痺别濒肠辞尘颈苍驳.听Gardens were weeded, classrooms cleaned, and hospitality packs were made for our students.听These鈥痠mpactful acts of service鈥痺ould鈥痭ot have been possible鈥痺ithout the help of Kaiser Permanente, the Fern Bacon鈥檚 黄色视频 team school听蝉辫辞苍蝉辞谤;鈥疕补苍诲蝉鈥On鈥疭acramento;鈥痑nd the 黄色视频鈥疭acramento鈥疌ivic Engagement team.鈥鈥听
Martin Luther King Jr. Day is an amazing time鈥痶o connect our mission and impact to our larger community. By coming together, we reinforce the importance of鈥痵ervice for a cause greater than self.鈥听
