California鈥檚 capital is the sixth largest city in the state, with approximately half a million people in the city proper and a metropolitan area of nearly 2.5 million people. It is also the 鈥渇astest growing big city in California,鈥 according to the Sacramento Bee in 2017, as well as one of the top 10 most diverse cities in the country, according to NBC News, and the most integrated city in the country, according to Priceonomics.
- Most AmeriCorps members live in Pocket, East Sacramento, South Sacramento, Oak Park, or a neighboring suburb/city and on average pay $600-$800/month with roommates.
- Confirmed AmeriCorps members will receive a housing guide with neighborhood descriptions of where previous AmeriCorps members have lived and other helpful hints.
- Our AmeriCorps members recommend having a car if possible, although all our schools are accessible by public transportation and AmeriCorps members receive free Sacramento Regional Transit passes for the bus and light rail system during their year of service.
