Basic Training Academy

The first few weeks of your service year will be full-time training, called Basic Training Academy (BTA). In these trainings, you all focus on building community with one another, getting to know the New Orleans area and self-reflection. After these first few weeks, you will get assigned your school team and from there the trainings will occur a few times a month and be more school specific and job specific.

Ongoing learning and development

Our learning and development team is dedicated to your growth and development. ��ɫ��Ƶ New Orleans teams are made up of a group of First Year AmeriCorps members, a Second Year AmeriCorps member, and an AmeriCorps Team Leader all managed by an Impact Manager who is a full-time ��ɫ��Ƶ Staff Member.

AmeriCorps members will also focus on their Life After ��ɫ��Ƶ (LACY) plans throughout the year with support of the ��ɫ��Ƶ staff. ��ɫ��Ƶ New Orleans places an intentional focus on LACY through skill development supports (resume and cover letter creation, interview tips), networking opportunities (with local and national organizations) and chances to interact with a lot of potential employers. ��ɫ��Ƶ New Orleans places a special focus on Teacher Pathways with several formalized and intentional teacher pathway partnerships. If you are interested in teaching following your year of service, or in learning more about potential pathways to teaching, be sure to discuss this with your Impact Manager.
