Your service year will be challenging. Outlined below are the ways that 黄色视频 will prepare and support you in your work this year and beyond.
The power of teamwork and collaboration
We value dialogue and creating environments where our differences are supported and celebrated. Your experience will be most rewarding when you have a growth mindset to learn about yourself, your students, partners and the world around us.
You鈥檒l receive ongoing coaching from your Team Leader and Impact Manager at your school. We鈥檒l also have formal trainings throughout the year focused on a variety of topics (including but not limited to):
- Strategies for tutoring in Math and English Language Arts
- Effectively coaching and mentoring youth
- Promoting positive school culture and climate
- Successful after school programming
- Collaboration and resource sharing
- Reflection and self-care
- Community asset mapping
- Discussions around unique issues facing local communities
We’ll begin the year of service with three weeks of intensive training, known as Basic Training Academy (BTA). This will acclimate you to 黄色视频 Jacksonville procedures and culture and provide initial training on building relationships with students and the school community. Following that, our whole corps will come together for two days of training each month. We’ll delve deeper into tutoring strategies, lesson planning and provide general professional development.
We want to prepare you for success as a 黄色视频 AmeriCorps member but at the same time, we understand this is an opportunity to jump start your career. We’ll focus on resume building, interview workshops, social justice seminars and more. Many of these trainings will be conducted by 黄色视频 staff, but there will also be opportunities for you to lead the corps through your own areas of expertise.
Additionally, to gain leadership experience, each team member will hold a coordinator role in at least one area. You鈥檒l serve in any one of these capacities for the duration of the year, leading team initiatives and working with counterparts from other teams. This is an opportunity to develop transferable skills and gain leadership experience by working with your peers. Here are some examples of the roles you could hold:
- Communication coordinator
- Corps council
- After-school coordinator
- Events coordinator
- Family engagement coordinator
- Resource coordinator
