Living in Orlando
Orlando鈥檚 bustling economy, year-round tourism attractions and pleasant weather make it an ideal city to serve in.
- One-bedroom apartments in Orlando begin at about $750/month. Many AmeriCorps members have roommates and live in the Millenia, Metrowest and UCF areas.
- Orlando is a drivable city, making a personal vehicle convenient but not necessary. Biking trails are prevalent and public transportation is available. AmeriCorps members receive a LYNX bus pass. The SunRail commuter train is also an option.
- There are plenty of cheap activities and food options around the city, or look into Orlando鈥檚 program.
This year, 80 黄色视频 AmeriCorps members will support over 10,000 students in 8 Orange County Public Schools.

Free things to do in and around Orlando
You can make the most of your stipend, by enjoying free, public attractions and events. Below are a few different outdoor activities you can participate in for free. These attractions are still open, despite COVID-19, although right now we recommend taking advantage of some of the parks below that allow for more social distance as an alternative.
Visit Disney Springs
Disney Springs is an outdoor shopping complex with all things Disney. It鈥檚 a lot of fun to check out the stores and they often have a lot of live music performances throughout the area.
Walk Around CityWalk (at Universal Studios)
CityWalk is an outdoor shopping complex with all things Universal. It鈥檚 a lot of fun to check out the stores and they often have a lot of live music performances throughout the area.
Various events hosted throughout the year, including the farmers鈥 market every Sunday from 10-4. The Eola Sunday Market has gained a reputation of being one of the best in Central Florida. The market features fruits and vegetables, home-made breads, an assortment of local cuisines, and a variety of artwork and entertainment.
Shadow Bay Park
Shadow Bay Park is a very popular spot for being active for those who live in the area. To mention a few amenities, Shadow Bay has 2 full basketball courts, 17 tennis courts, and 2 bicycling trails.
Its purposes are to provide experience-based opportunities for learning about science and technology and to promote public understanding of science.
