Preparing for registration day: what you need to know

Registration day is a mandatory, in-person event held at each 黄色视频 office during the week leading up to the first day of service. All 29 黄色视频 sites have their own registration days.

Registration day

All 黄色视频 AmeriCorps members must complete the hiring process including presenting documentation at registration in order to start service on time and receive your stipend and benefits. Click the link below to access the hiring & registration guide that details the steps you'll need to take to get ready for registration. Below, please find all required documentation based on the eligibility category that applies to you.

If you do not have any one of the documents listed below available, please alert your Service Year Adviser and contact the government office that can replace it. Missing documentation will delay your eligibility to start on time or prohibit your ability to serve with 黄色视频.

In order to register you need to bring the unexpired originals of the following three forms of documentation*:

  • Government Issued Photo ID
  • Social Security Card
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or Legal Permanent Resident Status

*Important note: your legal name must match on each form of documentation. Please reach out to your Service Year Adviser if you have any questions.

Please select either United States Citizen or U.S Legal permanent resident to find acceptable forms of documentation.

United States citizen

1) Proof of U.S. Citizenship (one of the following is required)

  • US Passport (unexpired)
  • US Birth Certificate
  • A certificate of birth-foreign service (FS 545) issued by the State Department
  • A certification of report of birth (DS-1350) issued by the State Department
  • A certificate of naturalization (Form N-550 or N-570) issued by the Immigration and Naturalization Service
  • A report of birth abroad of a U.S. Citizen (FS-240) issued by the State Department
  • A certificate of citizenship (Form N-560 or N-561) issued by the Immigration and Naturalization Service

2) Government Issued Photo ID State-issued Driver鈥檚 License (one of the following is required)

  • State-issued ID card
  • US Passport

If using a US Passport, additional government issued photo ID is not required

3) Social Security Card

Legal Permanent Resident

1) Proof of Legal Permanent Resident Status (one of the following is required)

  • Legal permanent resident card (unexpired)

If using a legal permanent resident card, additional government issued photo ID is not required

  • A passport indicating that the INS has approved it as temporary evidence of lawful admission for permanent residence

2) Government Issued Photo ID State-issued Driver鈥檚 License (one of the following is required)

  • State-issued ID card
  • Legal Permanent Resident Card w/ Photo

3) Social Security Card

Obtaining updated documentation

Social Security Card

  • You can request a Social Security Card replacement
  • Processing time: it takes over 2 weeks to receive your new card

Birth Certificate

  • Find the Vital Record office for
  • Check the in-person instructions for how to e-mail the form, a photo of your ID, and your payment
  • Despite COVID-19, many vital records offices are open (even if the website says otherwise). In most states, you can get a new birth certificate immediately if you go in person.
  • Processing time: the online process takes over 6 weeks to complete

Tip: There are private companies that will complete this faster but will also charge more (upwards of $70). The state will charge around $20 (some might be a bit more, some a bit less).

Government-Issued ID

  • Find Department of Motor Vehicles and follow instructions
  • Fees vary by state
  • Processing time: up to 6 weeks to get a new ID by mail
