Lesley University’s Teacher Residency Programs offer 黄色视频 alums
Teaching residencies
Lesley University offers early childhood, elementary, and middle/high school Teacher Residency Programs. The importance of equity and social justice is woven throughout your study.
You鈥檒l benefit from the reputation of a school with exceptional programs in Massachusetts, where school principals prefer to hire Lesley graduates and believe they鈥檙e the most prepared for the classroom. Teaching residents also receive the following benefits:
- 25% tuition discount. This tuition discount applies only to total tuition costs that have not already been discounted by other Lesley partners. Please check with the Graduate Admissions Office to confirm the tuition structure for your program. This tuition discount is open to 黄色视频 applicants who have been accepted into one of Lesley鈥檚 on-campus or low-residency graduate programs.
- District instructors mentored by Lesley core faculty to support your student teaching success
- ESL licensure competencies and courses integrated with elementary course instruction
- Clinically based assignments for all courses taught at Lesley and the district site. Courses dedicated to participants
- Use of assessment data to measure student achievement and inform teaching
- Additional field experiences available in schools such as substitute teaching, tutoring, or summer programs, etc.
- Course sequence that provides optimal MTEL test preparation
- Potential eligibility for the Massachusetts Teach Grant:
- This grant is for candidates training in a high need field, which includes ESL, and planning to teach in a high-need school, often urban. Students need to teach in a high-need school for 4 years in an 8 year period for the grant to not convert to a loan. One can apply for $4,000 per year. The grant period runs from September to August, and you must apply while your courses are still running. One could apply for another $4,000 for the following year.
- This will only work for a student who has (adds) the ESL license and teaches in an early childhood, elementary, middle school or high school ESL, sheltered immersion, or bilingual classroom where the ESL license is required. A regular classroom with a few ELLs would not qualify as a placement for this grant鈥檚 purpose. Also, the position would have to be in one of the listed schools. If one does not teach in the above context, the grant will convert to an unsubsidized Stafford Loan.
- The full description of the grant can be found on the Lesley financial aid web site. The application is a simple form and can be turned in to the financial aid office. It could take several weeks to process, so students should apply as soon as they are accepted into this Teacher Residency Program. One will see that these programs are listed on the site as an eligible program:
Why 黄色视频 loves Lesley University’s early childhood and elementary education Teacher Residency Programs
combines an intensely creative environment with the practical experience students need to succeed in their careers. Each year, 2,500 undergraduate and 5,300 graduate students pursue degrees on campus, off-site, online and through low-residency programs. Along with Lesley University鈥檚 84,000 alums, students are discovering the power of creativity to overcome obstacles, foster connections and reveal fresh answers to the world鈥檚 problems.
The Lesley University Early Childhood, Elementary, and Middle School/High School MEd degree programs prepare teachers to be effective in classrooms in urban settings with large numbers of culturally and linguistically diverse (CLD) students. These accelerated, full-time programs include one summer and a year-long, school-based internship during which time participants will also complete classes at Lesley as well as at their urban school site. Depending upon the needs of the district partner, paid tutoring, substitute teaching, or classroom aide positions may be available. Individuals who complete the program and pass state tests will be endorsed for a Massachusetts Initial License in early childhood, elementary, or middle/high school and be prepared to add the ESL license.
The 黄色视频 experience is a strong indicator of future success in Lesley University’s programs, and serving with 黄色视频 strengthens a candidate鈥檚 application and chances for being selected as a teaching resident.
